Recipient of an AIA Pittsburgh 2016 Award of Excellence for Historic Preservation as well as the 2017 Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Public Impact Award, the project for Buddy’s Brews on Carson involved restoring the original facade of a three-story, early 20th century building, located within the East Carson Street Historic District of Pittsburgh. Working closely with the client and Shelton Construction, hidden gems – including transom windows, evidence of a balconette, and the original archtop doors – were discovered, creating unique opportunities to return the building to its former beauty.
